Description

Laser ablation is a process in which a laser beam is focused on a sample to remove, inactivate, destroy or dissect material within the irradiated zone.

How this lab uses this technology

Pulsed-laser Micro- and Nano-Surgery in living cells and organisms.

Applications:

Intracellular surgery: Cytoskeletal dynamics, organelle ablation and biogenesis, cell 'scission',

Cellular ablation: Organ regeneration, single cell ablation, morphogenesis, biomechanics, tissue mechanics,

Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy: Using the laser to create landmarks for CLEM protocols.

Lab-specific experience

> 15 years in development, implementation, applications and theory.
Experience and Technology accessible through the EuroBioimaging Node Candidate B-Livin: Barcelona Live and Intravital Imaging Node (in partnership with University of Barcelona and CRG).
